Over the course of his career as an IT leader, Peter Berkov has served as a technical support specialist with OpenTable and as an IT consultant with High Output Systems. He is currently a security manager with Marketlive in Petaluma, California. Since passing his Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Exam, Peter Berkov has held active membership in the International Information System Security Certification Consortium, or (ISC)2.
An international nonprofit association, the (ISC)2 is dedicated to promoting safety and security in the cyber world. In addition to offering official CISSP certification and sponsoring a number of programs and special events, the organization recognizes outstanding achievement in the cyber-security field through awards such as the Harold F. Tipton Lifetime Achievement Award.
Named after a man with a reputation as the “George Washington of information security,” the Harold F. Tipton Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes recipients’ lifelong contributions to the information security industry. Any member of the (ISC)2 can nominate a candidate for the Tipton Award as long as that person is an (ISC)2 fellow or member in good standing and has a reputation of sustained excellence throughout his or her entire information security career. The (ISC)2 Awards Committee draws from a pool of nominees to put forth recommendations in a motion to the (ISC)2 board. The board then makes final selections for the Harold F. Tipton Lifetime Achievement Award by majority vote.
